Camp Updates and Info

We are very excited for you to be joining us soon for SWO20! As we prepare for an amazing week of camp, here are few things you need to know before arrival. We encourage you to share this email with ALL CHAPERONES AND ADULT LEADERS for your group prior to your arrival at SWO.

  • Please review the What to expect for SWO20 video!
  • Check-in will be on Monday at 3pm EST and checkout will be on Saturday at 9am.
  • All students and chaperones will be required to bring a face covering to camp. While you may not be required to wear it all the time, there will be certain times and activities that it may be necessary to.
  • If a student or chaperone has had symptoms of illness within 72 hours of leaving home for SWO, please notify your group coordinator. Every group must conduct temperature checks on each attendee before leaving home. This report must be submitted to SWO staff when you arrive at camp.
    • Group coordinators: we will send you a temperature checklist the week before arrival to record your student’s temperatures.
    • If a student or chaperone registers a temperature of 100 degrees or greater, they will not be able to attend SWO.
  • Everyone’s temperature will be checked by a trained SWO team upon arrival. Temperature checks will also be conducted every morning before breakfast by SWO team members.
  • This summer, morning and evening worship services will be held at our new off-site worship center! This 2000 seat auditorium will be able to accommodate all our campers and staff while also facilitating social distancing guidelines.
  • Groups will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the new worship center. If your group is traveling to camp on a charter bus that will not be available to you during the week, please contact the SWO office at 828-321-2210 so other arrangements can be made.
  • This summer at SWO, the schedule will look a bit different! In efforts to spread things out, all campers will be divided into smaller (“cohort”) groups which will rotate through meals, recreation and more. To this end, we’ve created additional meal times, rec slots, and more.
  • No visitors will be allowed at SWO this summer. In years past, some folks have come out to do things like watch the Revelation Skit while their students are at camp. Unfortunately, we will not be able to allow things like this for SWO20.
  • The cost for Ocoee rafting is $40 and horseback riding is $25. These can be paid at Rec Sign-ups.
  • We encourage campers to use our Snack Shack gift cards in order to limit contact during purchases.
  • You can learn more about our COVID-19 Action Plan

THIS WEDNESDAY

Hey Parents, while summer has begun it does not feel entirely like summer!  In an effort to encourage our students and give them some well needed face-to-face time, the Root’s Family (4619 Clarks Chapel Rd Franklin NC) has graciously offered to host our students with a bonfire, cookout, message on Wednesday, June 10 (6:30-10pm).  Families are invited.  We will serve the food “Covid-19 style” (gloves, masks, individually, not buffet style, ect…). I know that each family has different views when it comes to the circumstances we are facing, and we want to meet each of your needs. We ask if your student is participating in this event that they respect social distancing and observe proper hand washing to best respect and serve one another as we gather during the times we are in. RSVPs are greatly appreciated and can be done here: https://forms.gle/CnzdDbsh5fqkUTvb8Love and Blessings! Pastor Chris (828) 421-4036
